Iran Travel Documents: Passport and Visa

Travelers who wish to visit Iran must take care to have the correct travel documents. Below is information about the necessary travel documents as known at time of writing.

For a trip to Iran, you need a passport that is valid for at least six months after returning from the trip. Additionally, your passport can have no stamps from Israel, or other evidence that you have visited that country. You also need an Iranian visa.
To obtain a visa, you need an official letter of invitation, which Pyala Travel can arrange for you after you have booked your trip.

With the letter of invitation you can get a visa at the Iranian embassy in your own country. Decide in advance at which the embassy you want to pick up the visa.

For trips shorter than four weeks, it is also possible to get a visa at the airport in Tehran, Isfahan, Shiraz, Tabriz or Mashad, though you still need an invitation letter! On the overland border crossings it is still not possible to get a visa on the spot.
